Cancellation Policy:

Cancellation and no-show policy What is your cancellation policy for fully prepaid or part-paid bookings? 1 - If you cancel 24 hours prior to your pick-up, you will be refunded in full. 2 - If you cancel less than 24 hours in advance of pick-up, you will receive a refund minus USD59. If your online payment is less than USD59, no refund will be made for your car hire booking. 3 - If your booking is made less than 24 hours before pick up, the cancellation policy will automatically apply to your booking. 4 - All cancellations should be made on our online portal and not with the car hire agent. Should you agree to cancel directly with the car hire agent on arrival, you must also inform us of this change to your booking. 5 - Amending your booking or cancelling optional extras may not be possible less than 24 hours before pick up. If you purchased our Damage Refund Insurance product and have since decided to cancel your car rental booking, the Damage Refund Insurance will be cancelled automatically. If you wish to amend or rearrange your booking, the Damage Refund Insurance will initially be cancelled. We will, however, automatically create a new policy for your new booking. In both cases you will receive an email to confirm the cancellation at the email address you have provided during the online booking process. Please be aware that if you cancel your insurance policy less than 24 hours before the start of your car hire agreement, no refund for insurance will be granted. What is a no-show? A 'no-show' occurs for the following reasons: 1 - You didn't inform us about your cancellation prior to your pick-up time. 2 - You failed to pick up the car at the arranged time and date. 3 - You failed to provide the documentation that's required to pick up the car. 4 - You failed to provide a credit card in the main driver's name with enough available funds on it. In the event of any of the above, no refunds will be made to you. The car hire company reserves the right to refuse a car if you fail to arrive on time with all necessary documentation and a credit card with enough available funds for the car's security deposit. In such a case, unless the car hire has been cancelled at least 24 hours in advance, you will not be entitled to a refund.

Policies

Additional drivers must qualify with a valid driver's license in their own name. Additional charges may apply.

After Hour Returns: Leave the vehicle in the rental car parking area. Note the mileage on the rental contract jacket along with the fuel reading. Leave the printed rental agreement inside the vehicle and drop the keys in the after hours key return box. Charges are final once the contract is closed the next morning.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is optional. Additional charges apply. If the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is declined, customers may be responsible for any loss or damage to the rental vehicle regardless of fault. Liability Insurance Supplement (LIS) is NOT offered in Canada.

When driving into the United States, you will need a copy of your rental agreement and will need to obtain a pass from the Border Guard, at time of entry. Advise counter agent upon arrival of your intent to cross the U.S. border and return to the renting location. Vehicles are not permitted to travel into Alaska, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, or Mexico.

An Early Return Fee of up to 32.50CAD will be applied if You return the Vehicle more than 24 hours before the date and time previously scheduled, and You fail to notify us more than 24 hours in advance of such change by calling us at 1-888-283-0898. This Fee will be applied in addition to any change in rental rate that occurs as a result of reducing Your rental timeframe.

Blue Chip Rewards service is available during the locations regular hours of operation. Blue Chip Members should proceed to the rental counter to retrieve their rental agreement and keys to the vehicle.

To qualify to rent the Thrifty vehicle, the renter must present at the time of rental a valid driver’s license and valid major credit card in the renter's own name with available credit. At the time of rental, an authorized hold will be secured on your credit card provided to cover the estimated rental charges and any additional charges that may be incurred. These funds will not be available for your use. We will place an authorization amount of up to 350.00CAD or 20% of the estimated rental charges, depending on rental location and card used. If Thrifty cannot secure credit approval for this amount and/or proper identification credentials are not supplied, Thrifty will decline your rental. When the rental is over we will process the reversal, but the bank may take time to post it back to the account. The rental car company will not be responsible for any returned checks or overdraft fees incurred. Debit Check Cards, Prepaid Credit Cards, Gift Cards, Travelers Checks, Personal Checks, Money Orders, Cash and the small key ring credit cards are NOT accepted for payment in Canada.

When the renter chooses to receive Frequent Flyer miles, we will collect a Frequent Flyer surcharge, not to exceed 1.50CAD per day, at the time of rental to offset a portion of the annual cost of participation in the Frequent Flyer program.

Reservations will be honored for 6 hours after original scheduled pick up time unless the location is closed. Customers with reservations who experience weather or mechanical delays with airlines will be accommodated.

A Late Return Fee of up to 20.50CAD, up to a maximum of five (5) days/102.50CAD, will be applied if You return the Vehicle more than 12 hours after the date and time previously scheduled, and You failed to notify us of such change more than 24 hours prior to Your scheduled return time by calling us at 1-888-283-0898. This Fee will be applied in addition to any change in rental rate that occurs as a result of extending Your rental.

We prohibit smoking in ALL vehicles. If any evidence of smoking is found, a cleaning fee will apply.

Rental counters are located in terminal in the parkade on the arrivals level.

Customers who do not purchase our refueling option must refill the vehicle within a 10 kilometer radius of the rental return facility and present a fuel receipt to avoid refueling charges.

A valid driver's license in the customer's own name must be presented at the time of pick up. The minimum age to rent a vehicle at most locations in the United States and Canada is 20 years of age. In Michigan, New York, and the province of Quebec, the minimum age to rent a vehicle is 18. Please see special Vehicle Requirements. Renters under 25 may be subject to an additional fee. First time renters may be subject to an electronic verification of their driver’s license at a fee of 1.99CAD per rental. International Renters must present a valid license from their country of residence. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is strongly recommended for a driver’s license that is in a language other than English. Renters with driver’s licenses issued outside of Canada must provide a valid passport. Learner Permits or Photocopies are NOT accepted.

Any changes to the reservation or rental may result in a change of rate or additional fees.

A Return Change Fee of 12.99CAD will be applied if You return the Vehicle to a different location from that which was scheduled, or if You return more than 24 hours before or 12 hours after the date and time previously scheduled, and You notify us of an early return or return location change more than 24 hours in advance of the applicable return, or for an extension of Your rental, notify us by the return date and time previously scheduled. You may notify us by calling 1-888-283-0898. This fee will be applied in addition to any increase in rate that may occur as a result of changing the drop off location or the timeframe of Your rental.
